- Managed Wordpress service
- Preloaded templates
- Competitive rates
- Small market share may mean less updates
- Focused primarily on advocacy organizations
Liberty Concepts has worked for a myriad of advocacy organizations and candidate campaigns in nonpartisan and progressive politics. This digital agency offers managed web services to a small number of Congressional clients.
Managed WordPress services
Liberty Concepts is one of the few web vendors in both chambers of Congress offering managed WordPress services and design as an alternative to Drupal. WordPress is easier to deploy than the oft-selected Drupal system. Liberty Concepts developers build their sites with Google Analytics and social media integrations with a custom connector to Leidos Digital Solutions’ Intranet Quorum CRM platform given that all of the firm’s clients utilize this platform.
How they work
The client onboarding process for Liberty Concepts begins with a simple message sent to the company. From there, an exploratory meeting is set up between the potential client and the company. After crucial details are determined (i.e., website design, etc.), Liberty Concepts produces a proposal and submits it to the Congressional office for review by legislative leaders, Chiefs of Staff and members. If senior leadership signs off on the proposed website build, a final meeting is had to iron out the required details and custom add-ons.
Liberty Concepts offers two pre-built templates. The basic template, starting at a one-time price of $10,000, is emblematic of a traditional web portal for a candidate campaign or advocacy initiative. The next tier of template, a site geared towards Congressional offices, elected officials, and constituent engagement, starts at $25,000.
Custom website builds run from $25,000 to $35,000. House websites built by competing providers range between $10,000-$20,000. Liberty Concepts can be retained for an additional $500 per month for maintenance and support while offering free onboarding sessions for offices with completed projects to familiarize staff with the back-end of WordPress.
Working towards recurring clientele in Congress
Liberty Concepts — being one of the few managed WordPress services on the Hill — is a relatively small player. While open to onboarding more clients and taking on new projects, the company only maintains a small group of Congressional clients. The costs associated with a website build from Liberty Concepts may be a deterrence to growth in this area.
What we think
Unlike Liberty Concepts, companies such as Fireside21 offer boutique services and others like CreativEngine have created proprietary content management tech built explicitly with constituent engagement in mind. Liberty Concepts, however, believes that as long as they create phenomenal final products that match the high price, they accomplish their mission.
