Demographics Pro is a social media audience analysis tool with a browser-based platform. Featuring static data, analytics on social audiences, and means for comparison, Demographics Pro serves as an excellent research platform. However, this platform doesn’t offer much else given the high pricing and a lack of real-time data.

Analysis and UI

Demographics Pro provides an easily navigable user experience with basic controls and a free in-platform knowledge base for troubleshooting. Plus, users can access customer support via email, in-platform messaging, or by phone. The user interface for the platform is built around the flagship analysis and comparison tools that provide demographics, geographies, and all necessary user audience data populate into visual bar graphs and vertical histograms.

Comparison tools and audience research

Outside of the analysis tool, Demographics Pro allows users to research audiences and compare competing accounts. For example, a user could generate a comparison report for up to ten accounts or “benchmark” accounts with significant followings (i.e., journalists, organizations, personalities), creating r head-to-head reports of audiences for particular accounts.

Exportable data

Data generated in the reports offered by Demographic Pro can be exported into PDF documents and CSV data files.

No real-time data

None of the data produced in the Demographics Pro platform is live. With static data, the tool only offers information and research for audience breakdown or C-level oversight. For customers who want live data, sticking to the analysis tools built into Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram will suffice. For more in-depth analysis and live data updates, customers should look into business intelligence tools or social media management platforms.

Pricing

Demographics Pro has a pay-as-you-go pricing model. For audience analysis reports, pricing is offered on a “token” basis. Each token produces a new analysis of a particular social media account (think of putting a quarter into an arcade game and getting a one play credit). One token costs $500. Users can buy tokens at bulk discounted prices. For example, five credits are $1,750 at $350 per credit, and 100 credits are $9,500 at $95 per credit. API access also costs extra.

What we think

Demographics Pro doesn’t offer much when it comes to real-time social media analysis. The static data and audience analysis reports add value to general outreach efforts; however, organizations should save the money by using business intelligence tools, social media management platforms, or the analytics dashboards on social networks like Facebook or Twitter.
